We have recently bought a 10 year old Hawley Goodall Chiltern 4 frame tent. Does anybody know if there is a porch/canopy available for this tent? I've done searches on the internet but haven't come up with anything. (very new to camping and not too hot on pc either!!)
Not got a clue about your tent - I too googled for it and came up with a lot of information regarding the chiltern railway society. I am sure someone will be along very soon to bail you out.
I too have a Halwey Goodall frame tent which we no longer use (changed to tent last year) and have a suncanopy for it.
Ours is the H/G Cotswold 4 model and was exactly like the Lichtfield Montana 4 and the suncanopies are excatly the same so you could try a search under that name.
Sorry to correct you Gill1961 but we bought ours NEW in 1999 as I said it was identical to the Lichtfiled Montana 4 in layout, wieight size and colour.
Only fault was with the inner tents which tended have poor stitching; it survived strong winds and rain at Folkestone CCC site July 2004.
We have only changed to allow to camp iin comfort without a trailer.
Thanks for your comments. I believe our tent was bought in 1995 and apparently was only used once a summer. Whatever, it is in very good condition and as we only paid £40 for it which included airbed, pumps, chairs, table, windbreak, crockery etc, it seemed a very reasonable buy considering I will soon be making my first venture into camping.
I've posted a want it notice for a sun canopy but perhaps I might not need it. Hubby thinks a cheap gazebo might do the trick.
Hawley Goodall manufactured awnings too, we had several when parents used to caravan. They were known for quality so well done on your purchase, sounds like a bargain.
Thanks for that. We are feeling pleased with ourselves! Hoping to try it out in Devon sometime in the next two weeks. No luck with a sun canopy yet but have an Oswald Bailey brochure which lists a Coleman Classic Awning for £29.99 which will fit almosy any family size tent. Its pictured with what looks like a dome tent so I don't know if it will do for a framt tent. Might be worth a look,

The Hawley Goodall Cotswold 4 was our first Frame tent, which we bought in 2000. It was a special offer as Hawley Goodall made the Lichfield tents but badged this under their own name.
We used it for 2 seasons but outgrew it as we found the living area too small. We progressed to a second hand Sunncamp Chateau (huge) and then upgraded last year to the Chateau's successor the Palace (again second hand).
The HG Cotswold was a perfectly adequate tent. In its second season of use we were putting it up in a strong breeze which lifted the frame and a critical corner connector bent to the point of almost snapping. However it survived a fortnight's holiday and on return we took it too a place that make wrought ironwork and they heated it to near molten and reformed it. It came back stronger than in its original state! However, that was the point at which we sold it and upgraded to the Sunncamp.
Certainly sounds like we've bought well!! Romany thanks for that. Campasarow, I was interested to learn that Lichfield was made by Hawley Goodall and also how you progressed to your present tent. Where do you find your secondhand items?

Teresa,
On both occassions we used our local free ads paper (Trade It) to purchase our second hand tents. Of course there is ebay and you do get some crackers but ideally you want to be able to see the tent erected to check that there is no serious damage to frame or canvas.
Good luck with either finding a canopy or upgrading.
