hiya,

need some help with roof lining on my sunncmp chateau,,  what end of the roof does it attach to ? s it the bedroom end, or the front door end, and do the little clips that hang the inner bedrooms attach the roof liner too,

does any one know if sunncamp will have any instructions for tent too as we were struggling with  the ones we have.

Hi, hope you don't mind me asking, recently purchased a frame tent, noticed other threads talking about roof liners, can I ask what and why are they necessary, cos we don't have one!

It's a long time since I've had a frame tent, but I always assumed they served as a form of insulation... Keeping the tent cooler in hot weather and warmer in cool weather. I suppose they cover up the (unsightly) poles too, but that never bothered me...

I'm probably wrong (as usual!) but that's what I assumed the 'roof liner' was for...

The roof lining is to insulate, as AndyPandy says. It is just made of thin cotton material. like bedsheets, that clips to the roof poles with the clips like you hang the bedrooms with. The roof lining is for the front part of the tent.

We never used ours, only being summer campers, but when my sister bought the tent off us, she tried them out, didn't notice any difference in making the tent cooler, and found that she couldn't hang up her clothes on the roof poles, so took them down again. So I guess you don't really need them. Don't know if they make it warmer in winter?

Lynda, have you put the tent up yet? if you have, mark the poles with coloured tapes so you know what goes where next time. Tent instructions are notorious for being brief and almost useless. Once you have got the roof put together, insert the leg poles, but only halfway up, like on their knees, then put the canvas over the top, before raising it to full height.

This is the link for sunncamp if you need to contact them for a copy of instructions.

Try posting another thread here asking for instructions too, maybe someone can email them to you.

hi everyone thanks for that, weve got the tent up in back garden if you look in my gallery the 1st picture is when it was for sale on ebay, the 2nd and 3rd are from my mobile phone, taken about half n hour ago,

well just leave the roof lining out cos it loks like they are just to enhance the appearance, who cares if u can see poles in the ceiling, thats were we hang wet clothes from etc,

we did have a tent like this about 5 year ago a sunncamp but oly slept 4 and was not as long, it only has 1 lot of windows down the side this one has 2,  i think it was called sunncamp villa,

we are going to colour code the poles with plastic tape, it will b easier than trying to work out from the diagram on the instructions supplied

well im t finish hanging the curtains inside cos my daughter and her friends are going to have a sleepover  during the week  in the tent,

lynda

ive just realised something, the picture in my gallery pic number 1, is the piccie that was on ebay when tent was for sale, i was trying to figure out were the rolled up side was in relation to my pictures no 2 aand 3 , and have twigged that the ebay picture is maybe a downloaded one from web and not of the actual tent, cos my zips are red and my curtains are pink and white,  not yellow and we have 2 more large windows along the sides of the tent, plus the doorway  looks different,

Hello

I have a Sunncamp palace and I think it may be the same. i always put the lining up as it helps keep the tent a bit cooler in the summer and I like the look.

Put the inner tents up first. these clip to the tent poles towards the back of the tent. the roof lining should then be the right size for the rest of the tent.

use the same metal clips which you use for the innter tents. These fit the loops on the roof lining to the tent poles.

I find the secret is to start by getting it the right way round. two of the sides will be totally straight whereas two of the sides are designed to line up with the upside down v shape of the tent. Once you have done that, you will find that the loops should line up with the roof poles. Just go round methodically. Let me know how you get on

good luck

Tim

I am extremely puzzled by your pictures because the first one is clearly a different tent. I am also puzzled because I was expecting the kitchen area to be on the right hand side whereas it seems to be on the left on that picture.

hi yes you are right, the 1st picture from ebay is a different tent to one we got, if u look at the side were the doorway is rolled up, on our picture in garden we have the kitchen area there, our curtains are pink not yellow and the zips are red, also ours has the sunncamp logo on the front right as you look staright on, the ebay picture shows logo on left looking straight on, all i can think of was the lad who sold tent on ebay didnt have a picture to add so usedd a one from web of similar tent, the one weve got is actually bigger than the one on ebay, i think we got a canny bargain for 132 quid, daughter and friend are sleeping out tonight in it,
