We have just bought a gas fridge and are going camping this weekend and are wondering about running it in the tent. I expect we will switch it off at night.

We don't have a SIG so air circulation sould be ok??!

Also is it safe to leave it running on gas when we go out for the day?

Hi. We leave ours on all the time. We don't have a sig either but we do check that the flame burns blue not orange, though I'm not sure why!

Orange flame means the oxygen isnt getting thru right and you run a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning!
It also burns your gas quicker than a fireball!!

Do what we did ,and but one of those small carbon monoxide detector cards ( around a fiver for 2 ) and attatch it to he front of the fridge.

We have a sig so either use the fridge in the porch or kitchen tent ,if we take it .

Put a board under it to protect your groundsheet. It`s designed to run 24/7, so don`t worry about that. Just keep it in a well ventilated area, not a pod, when on gas.

We've just bought a 3 way fridge and when we go away in 3 weeks intend to run it on gas because we haven't got EHU. Without appearing too dumb, why do we need to put it on a board?

I`m basing this on a report here that someone`s CombiCool burned a hole in their groundsheet while running on gas. Board seems sensible to me, even if it was a one off.

The other use for the board is to level the Combicool. Combicools don`t work properly on a slope. You can wedge the board level before you place the Combicool on it. Much easier than trying to wedge up a full...and very heavy...Combicool!

I just carry a thin sheet of ply as a matter of course. It takes up very little room in the car and has been a godsend for putting under the Combicool (That`s what I have) in all sorts of situation. I use it whether the fridge is on gas or electric. It makes sense to me to place it on a firm, stable base.

Thanks for that, obviously need to get myself a board of some kind. Something else to try and fit in! Glad we've just bought a top box, looks like we will definately fill it.

Something else to try and fit in! .

It just goes flat on the bottom of the car boot...well, it does in my estate car. Barely notice it.
