I brought a Pro Action Nevada tent last July from Argos Direct. I have only used it a handful of times since then as the weather hasn't been all that good. When I used it on the weekend I found that the whole of the roof was leaking in water, which I must admit I am not sure if it was rain or dew. I phoned argos and they told me that as it was outside the twelve months they could not do anything without an independent report from a camping shop. The manufacters are based in Hong Kong so the only guarantee you get is for a year, which i suppose is fair enough.
I am pretty annoyed that the waterproofing on the tent seems to have gone already. I have suggestions to re-waterproof it with some paint stuff you can get from camping shops. But does anyone else have any other suggestions to why it could have leaked and how I could resolve it. I brought the tent for eighty quid and I love. I am just peeved to have to buy another tent so soon.
can you re pitch it in your garden and turbn the hosepipe on it??? you will soon find out if its a leak or condensation!
good luck, and welcome to UKCS!

I may be stating something really obvious here, but are you sure you have pitched it right?. i don't mean to sound patronising or cause offence but the over the last weekend, I have witnesed some of the worst pitched tents I have ever seen.
Some were so saggy it was a wonder they stood up at all. There were domes with the bedrom pods just flappping about loosely, the fabric hanging in folds. Some were tunnel tents and are supposed to be smooth and stretched taut, I couldn't believe the way the roof sections were dipping between the hoops, they would certainly not have kept any rain out, it would have collected in big puddles in the roof.
If you think about it, an umbrella is made of similar stuff to a tent, but it will only keep the rain off when it is up and stretched out, When a wet umbrella is folded down and left to drip in the sink, it gets wet through to the inside as well. Same thing applies to a tent, if it's not stretched out taut, it won't keep the rain out.
I do apologise if you are not a novice and are well used to pitching properly, but it is just the first thing that occurred to me when I read your post.
No need to apologise. My partner actually thinks the same, that we never pitched it right. I think we rushed it trying to get it up before it got dark!
It's just we are in a pickle if to trust it again. We are off next month camping again for three nights and not sure what to do, if to trust it or buy anothe one.
I would pitch it in the garden and take the hose to it. If the inside was wet in the morning it could be condensation. These nylon domes can get very wet on the inside to the tune of dripping!!
hi mate i have got an tent the same as you and i have had it for about a year and mine is not leaking but i will be keeping an eye on this post to see if mine will go the same way but we have been in some bad weather and it stood up to the test so i hope you get this problem solved as it is not nice to wake up thinking you have got a leak.
We have this tent, so do our camping buddies! Not used ours this year as we got a new one!!! But I won't part with it the lay out is the best I've found.
There is a lot of condensation on the inside of the roof ,one time when it rained heavy the rain knocked the condensation off the inside of the roof and there was a wet fine mist all over us! We thought the tent had given up but after testing with a hose we worked out the prob
we used to have a similar tent to the pro action, we had so much condensation all the time every thing was damp, nearly put us off camping! A friend suggested we look at frame tents, we did and loved them. We got a used one from e-bay and it was brill. Have just got another frame tent, it is huge and lovely. Nylon dome tents are lighter than frame tents and if space for storage is a problem you would be better off with a dome. Once you get used to a frame it does not take long to erect, cannot do it on my own though.
It would be extremely unusual to have a tent leak all over the inside of the roof. Tents usually leak through the seams. If the tent was wet evenly over the inside, then I`m 99% certain that it will have been condensation...especially given this horrible hot and humid weather.
And I have to ask this...was it raining badly? More than a fine sprinkle, that is? For how long? Even crappy tents don`t leak untill you get a good downpour, while condensation occurs even when the weather is dry and can get really, really bad just in drizzle.
