just bought a nice second hand tent of ebay which had a stuck zip mr bean who owned the tent previous used wd40 to free the zip.is there such a thing as degreaser to remove the stain waterproofing shouldnt be an issue as its onlt on the zip

Try pure soap flakes,you should be able to get them from a supermarket.definately not washing powder(detergent) it worked on a gore tex waterproof jacket i got oil on.You could also try   http://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/products/productdetail.php?productid=4&activityid=-1&itemid=-1&fabricid=-1       Nikwax make good stuff use it for all our boots and waterproofs now.
