Is there a ‘best’ time of year to buy a tent ?

Are there sales at the end of the camping season or when manufacturers are bringing out next years models - might this be the same time ?!

Or, are there bargains to be had all year round and its just a case of watching out for the make/model you want and be ready to move quickly when it comes up ?

We are planning our next years ‘proper’ tent to replace our eBay one – which has, to be honest done well, much better than expected even in heavy rain. OH fancies a Monty 4, I like the look of the Outdoor Revolution Scenic VRX 5.0i, and if possible we would like to buy at a good time – or at least not the week before everyone always has a sale !

I still haven't figured out the answer, so not much help, sorry. These forums could really do with a 'watch this thread' button.

Our local camping shop have got a sale on at the minute and I noticed Millets did too, so maybe start looking around now.

Hi, i just bought a second hand  Relum (something) off e-bay, its a big sod with 3 bedrooms or one huge double and small single, i paid £100 for it and its like new, the guy also gave me a couple of tips, the main one being to just half erect the poles then cover with canvas go inside and erect the rest (simple and efficient, but there's no way i'd have thought of it)

I'm well chuffed with our purchase, mind you we decided we would go for luxury for sleeping and splashed out on JRC stealth defender carp beds (comfy or what) got a good price too

Can't wait to go on hols.

We bought our tent early September last year in a sale from an outdoor shop, and we have been very happy with it. However obviously the most popular models will have sold out by that stage, so it is a case of what is left.

However looking around (like you do!) I have noticed a lot of places still offering a few 2005 tents for sale even now, so there doesn't seem to be a 'best time'.

Its usually between now and mid September depending on how long it takes suppliers to get rid of this years models.
