Just purchased the above named tent.

We have read through the instructions and watch the video thingy on Vangos website but it seems to go from putting the poles through and putting them into an arch straight to the tent is errected and they are fixing the guy ropes.

Any tips or advice from fellow Vista owners (or indeed tunnel tent owners).

Would prefer not to look a fool on our first outing with it.

Louise

Hi there

We used to have a vista 800. It is a simple tent to put up. Before you start make sure all the bands are under the flysheet and havent got stuck or twsited up anyway. As the video youve seen says feed the poles through 1 by 1 hooking each pole end into the pin as you go (therefore making the arch each time). It will lay concertenad on the ground. When all 5 are done you are ready to pull it upwards into the tent shape. It takes a good pull but will come up with 2 of you pulling from each side. Then make sure all the tension straps on the bottom are taut (this means the tent is fully stretched out and should also be straight, if its not straight the inners wont fit properly). Then you need 4 pegs, 2 for each end, put them through the rings on the end poles. the tent just about holds up now whilst you peg the rest out. If its a bit blowy peg out the end guides to hold the tent up in position. Then peg everything else out every last bang ring and guy rope. If it is windy use the tension bands inside as well tey really do stabalise the tent in winds.

Hope this helps, and isnt too complicated for you. No what i mean is that i hope it makes sense to you.

Hi Louise

We have a Vango Vista 600.  We put it up similar to the above but once all poles are in and pins in place ie. so poles are arched, then with one adult either side of tent gather the side of each pole in your hand and stand all the arches up so that they are all raised but standing next to each other.  OH then pegs the end of the tent.  We then literally walk the tent out pole by pole, unless its really blowing a gale the poles will stand up by themselves until you reach the last one and peg that end.  The tent should then be stable enough to go round and do all the pegging and guy ropes.

Hope this makes sense

Jo

We do it like this, but we peg the first end while the arches are still on the ground.  Then lift it upright as one and walk it out.  After a couple of goes it will be easy, promise!

Interesting advice.  Thinking of getting bigger tent and TBS Vista 600 and 800 were on list of possibles but was wondering how people put em up.
