We're camping next weekend with the 3 kiddiwinks. This is the first time this year and last year was too far ago for me to remember what we did. We're planning on putting the 4 yr old and 2 yr old into readybeds with tracksuits on and extra blankets. Does that sound enough? And the 3 month old (am I mad going camping with one that age?) will be in the carry cot from his pram with, I think, a grobag and a blanket or 2. Will he need more? Fleecy pajamas? All advice welcome!
You will only really know when you get there to be honest ,but one tip I can give is ,make sure the kids get showered and ready for bed before it gets dark ,then let them wear what they have on to go to bed .Nothing worse than putting cold clothes on and then trying to warm up in a cold bed !
I find layers the best solution for us all - especially things like fleece blankets that are easily added/removed according to the weather. We've just come back from a week away - last Saturday it was very hot - last night I added an extra sleeping bag on top of the kids and myself. A touch on the nippy side.
I would far rather take too many blankets etc and not need them, than not take enough and freeze all night. My two take thick pyjamas and wear socks and a fleecy of some sort if it`s cold. I throw extra blankets over them if necessary as well.
The best thing we ever did though was take our greenhouse heater with us and some hot water bottles.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
