Check your household insurance. We looked into insuring our tent and expensive trailer and then discovered our Home Insurance covered the lot (apart from the tv/dvd).

when i enquired about our camping insurance we were told that if we took out personal possesions then for an add on i could have my camping gear insured against storm damage and theft which is what we wanted as our household insurance would cover but not when it is all set up on site.

No joy with house insurance.............. Somebody out there must have tent insurance.........please please help we are going away next w/e and there’s sure to be hurricanes and tornados if we are not insured..........thanks
We have contents insurance with LLoyds TSB and all of our camping gear except our trailer is covered. We do have the extended contents insurance with accidental damage option so that may be the bit that covers the camping stuff.
The nice people at TSB have just replaced our damaged tent (next door's cat) with a lovely new one for the price of our policy excess - £35 for an Outwell Indiana 8!
I'm not sure how much it cost to get the extras added on but in our case it was worth every penny.
Phone LloydsTSB up again........computer still says NO............offered to take out extended contents cover out .......computer still says NO............told them I would have to cancel my Insurance and go somewhere else............Now computer says YES..............so now we can go off camping knowing we are fully insured for 20.00 extra........thanks JennEd enjoy your new tent
