Hi Jacky Boy, welcome to the UKCS. My answer to you is don't give up on the monty! You've made a really good choice with this tent but it seems you've just had a couple of 'bad eggs.' I think if you do a search on here, you'll find that practically all owners had one or two teething problems, but once sorted, wouldn't change their tent for the world. We've just got back from a camping hol in Brean Somerset and had just about every weather type available and our tent done us proud. Other tents around us had broken poles from the high winds and one family came back to their tent to find all their bedding and belongings soaked from a leaking tent. I'm sure some more owners will be along soon to fly the monty flag! Regards dodoharv.

HI jackyboy,

don`t give up on your Monty 6 yet. It`s a good tent and well worth perservering with. We had our XXL replaced twice before we got a perfect one, the first had a minor fault, the second leaked. We wouldn`t be without our XXL for anything.

Our Monty 6 has been brilliant but not tried it in the rain yet. If it does leak we will be in touch with Outwell and will perservere with it until we get a perfect one as it`s such a good tent.

Contact Outwell again and tell them you want a replacement, you are entitled to one and I believe their customer service is usually excellent.

We had an Outwell a few years back, it was a good tent.  Sold it to a mate who still uses it.

Only problem she had was in storms in Cornwall and the porch/ door poles were damaged but there were spare poles in our kit - so no real problem.

Just a vote here for the Monty

I have absolutely no problems and it has been up this year is some big storms (more than any other tent i have had). Not a leak, not a fault. Superb.

We've just come back from a week in the Lakes followed by a week in Dorset with our Monty 6.

We had heavy winds and rain but the tent coped fine, not a drop of water inside but then I was careful to close the doors and windows properly.

The poles can be a pain I agree, they tend to jam together but a couple of gentle taps on the ground seems to free them ok.

Sorry to hear you didn't get on with yours, we wouldn't be without ours !

We couldnt have asked for a better tent - it is fab.  Would recommend that you stick with it and wait for the arrival of a replacement.  Once you have got the right one you will never look back.  Hope you get it sorted out soon and good luck on your first camping trip in your Monty.
