Hi, not sure about sites in Aberystwyth but I am sure your kids will love the experience, mine (aged 8 and 11) prefer camping to going abroad. They always make friends, we've just got back from a fortnight in Wales and already both have received phone calls from friends they made whilst we were away. I am relatively new to camping (third time only this holiday), I so wish I had done it years ago, it's such good fun, even if the weather isn't perfect.
Have a good relaxing holiday. I am sure the children will love it.
Hi and welcome to ukcs, check out the site in the campsite search at the top of the page.
Now that the weather seems to have cooled off , Take plenty of warm clothes (and extra socks, wet feet are cold feet) for evenings and a blanket or picnic rug to put on top of your airbeds to stop the cold coming up and getting damp sleeping bags from condensation. a bucket for emergency wees late in the night is a must with kiddies.
if you have any worries at all putting up your tent ASK the neighbours, most campers are only too willing to lend a hand and give advice. Tent pegs should be put in at an angle of 45%, not hammered in straight down or they will come out in windy weather. Lots of people make this mistake first time.
We went camping for the first time two weeks ago. We felt really nervous when we put our tent up and felt everyone was watching us and made a few mistakes through rushing, but i really dont think we were being watched!
However, we loved camping so much we went again this weekend and had an even better time as we were more relaxed about things. It took us an hour and a half to put the tent up, blow up lilo's etc, but we did it right this time.
So take your time putting the tent up, have a laugh, and ignore anyone who you think maybe staring......you'll never see them again after your holiday anyway!
If you feel that everyone is watching you then your right - we are making sure your ok and know what your doing - if not then we will approach you and offer to help. Dont turn it away if your struggling. Accept it with thanks and laugh about it.
Dont forget we have all been virgin campers at one time or other
Hi. We went camping for the first time last week after talking about it for ages. We had a brilliant time. My grandson made loads of new friends. Putting up the tent and getting organised took a bit of time but once it was up we were able to relax an enjoyed the whole experience. People were very friendly. The other benefit is that it was reasonably cheap so we can go off for some weekends later in the year instead of all the money going in one hit.
I'm sure you will have a great time. If anything does go cockeyed, just laugh about it and move on.
you will have a great time ,we have only started camping this year, wish we had done it years ago.
take extra socks, you will need them,
my oh has rigged a great ,night time loo , its a bucket, 1 bag of sawdust, and some plasticbags. put the bag in the bucket ,1 handfull of sawdust. after the kids have had a little wee, put a handfull of sawdust on the top. its great for nightime.
pick up some extra tent pegs cos the kids want to help put up the tent so a few bent ones wont matter.
if you take a football, your kids will make friends cos every kid on the site will be playing along with them. hope you have lots of fun
