At the moment we have an Outwell Harfford XL and a new canopy extension for that bit extra space. It is quite a large tent, but we would prefer headroom in the bedrooms and a lighter interior for the evenings.
We recently camped in Devon and saw the Outwell Indiana 8 which we really like apart from the fact that it doesnt have a sewn in groundsheet. We are planning to sell our Hartford and replace it with a tunnel tent similar to the Indiana, but would prefer one with a sewn in groundsheet...does one exist ? or is the bucket groundsheet with the Indiana an improvement ?
Have you had a look at the marechal vario 9 ? It has all the features you mention plus great flexibility with bedroom arrangements and it can even have a porch area big enought for 2 rocking chairs !
Have you looked at the Outwell Norfolk Lake? It's the same shape and size as the Sun Valley 8 but is made from polycotton (canvas), has aluminium poles and has a sewn in heavy duty tarpaulin groundsheet. We have one and it's a brilliant tent. Much better quality than the SV8 and should last a lot longer too. On the downside, it is £700 but it's money well spent if you have it.
Khyam Colorado ..... or Jamet Roma 6 .....I am down to one of these .... but they have 3x2 sleeping areas .... Khyam site shows you how to put it up !!!
I have just had this dilemna also, and decided to go for the Montana 12, it has a SIG and seemed to have more usuable and versatile space as you can remove 1 or 2 bedrooms from each end if not needed on a trip giving more living space, you can also add a side canopy if you wish.
I looked at them both side by side pitched at a show in Darley Dale today, the Indiana had a big puddle in the goundsheet! also the ground sheet looked very untidy, granted they had both been pitched for a while, but the montana was still mint and bone dry.
we have the outwell indiana 8 and love it never had a leak and the only time we had a puddle was when i went out leaving the side door open and it rained big time!!!!. to say that it was a big storm and the tent stood well. we got back to site and our tent stood still why everone els where dieing i even got out the car and more pegs in nextdoors because it was nearly flying off.
