Hi Brummygit, the pics I have seen in the Outwell 2007 catalogue show's that the Vermont L's front does open the same as that of the Vermont XL. Also if you take a look at the widths of the tents the Vermont L is the same width as that of the Montana 6, so if you have the canopy this should fit the Vermont L to.
