hi folks sorry to post this question again but i am having some difficulty finding the correct waterproofing for my cotton canvas frame tent everyone seems to point me in the direction of fabsil but i have tried this to no avail i noticed on the tins that its use is for synthetic fabric.i need someone who has had a leaky tent and has had similar problemb to tell me what they used.

please help.

Thomsons brick sealent. The same ingredients as Fabsil canvas reproofer but loads cheaper. If you do a search you will find this advice on several other threads. I have used it in the past on a FC we once owned and it did a great job and I plan on using it on our new Lichfield when it needs a reproof.

I used Fabsil on both of our canvas tents after I'd thoroughly washed all the waterproofing out of them   - we bought them second hand, so they needed a wash to get the muck outta them

We've used both tents since & they didn't let a drop of water in, even though the big one went through a torrential thunder storm. By the way I brushed the Fabsil on, rather than spraying it. Beware, it does kill the grass

Weve used the Fabsil on our Force ten Cotton tents for years.

May appear exoensive to buy but it goes a long long way.

I use an old windowlene spray bottle to apply, easier, I find to keep the wet edge.

thanks magicaly i think i will give the thompsons sealant a go i think i read somewhere that this type of stuff could be used on tents,fed up spending money on fabsil to no avail.sorry kipper kid i did not explain my thread too well doh on the tins of fabsil it says that it is for synthetic material,is the kind you brush on any different from the spray.
