New member, looking for first 'proper' tent after looking through the forums for a couple of weeks. Thinking of a diablo 600 - plenty about at a good price but two worries:
Ease of pitching - with two small children it is mainly down to me, with bits of help from the other half. Is it a really hard tent to put up??
Size - I'm thinking this is really a medium tent compared to some so should be OK for most places??

It is worth waiting for the diablo owners to answer, but to me, a diablo is not a tent I would want to put up solo (and having to keep an eye out for two small children). Like most big domes, it is probably best done with two of you.
As for size of tent, yep it would be OK for just aobut everywhere.
With small kids, would you not prefer a tent where they are close to you in the night ? - it can be a right pain to undo zips to get to crying kids in the dark.
I tent, just about all the time, with my two kids - i.e. just the three of us, and have always found tents with a big single bedroom work best, so I am with them, rather in than two seporated bedrooms. Even if it is a big bedroom with a seporate/divider down the middle, which is easly moved/opened so I can get to them.

i had the diablo 600 and have now bought the 900 model but you do really need 2 people to put it up because just feeding the tent poles needs 2,our daughters were 8&10yrs when we got our 1st diablo and they where a great help .but we do love ours and always help other people who seem to be struggling with theres
we started off with a diablo 600 and only used it a few times cause OH used to get so angry putting it up as there was so much guying out to do. We ended up getting the Montana 6 which was a doddle to put up and alot less guy ropes to peg out. Also everytime we pitched the diablo it always seemed to rain so we had to be quick to get the flysheet over the inner, whereas with the monty it was up in one. I think this will be down to personal preference to you i.e. do you want an inner pitch first or a up in one tent, bedroom pods next to each other or away etc. Just don't do what we did and end up buying about 4 different tents before you found the one you liked

We have an Aspen and it is smilar to the diablo when it comes to set it up and you for sure need 2 people to put it up properly. Even though i love my Aspen i don't like the fact that it is 'inner' first! We are now looking at buying a second tent.
Hi Vwt4 and welcome to UKCS a most addictive webiste. We have a Aztec Cantera 9 which is basically the same principles as a Diablo, large dome pitched inner first. Although the tent is fantastic it would be very difficult to pitch on own and as mentioned in previous posts, if it rains when putting up be prepared for your living space to get wet. We to have now looked at getting another tent and have pre ordered a Outwell Montana 6, Just hope they got there quality issues addressed.
I have both the Diablo 900 and the Monty 6 and in my opinion the Monty wins hands down. There are however benefits with both tents. I like the separation of the bedroom pods in the 900 and for 6 people its actually good accomodation. However as stated in other threads it can be a pain to pitch and at times in bad weather it has taken 5 of us to get the tent pitched. On the other hand putting asside some quality issues that Outwell had with the Monty last year, its a simple tent to pitch and again the floorspace is good. However dont be fooled that the bedrooms are suitable for 6 people as we only ever sleep 2 in each pod and my two boys slum it in the living space.
I used to have the Diablo and yes it defintley requires two people to put it up, the bedroom pods are large but they don't have a dividing curtain or anything which makes the bedroom areas more adaptable, which was one of the reasons I changed to a frame tent.

Can I suggest you have a look at the new Vango Killington/Kirkwood. It is a Diablo in design but has the benefit of outer pitch first. I still think it will take at least 2 people to pitch but the benefit of outer first for me makes this a better option than the Diablo.
Vango oregon - 600 is £119.99, 800 is £134.99 - also SIGs I think but not 100% sure here..
In case you can't see it, the 800 is the first one with the blue background, immediately below the 600. Although high head height, as tunnel style should be ok to put up single handed.
If you look carefully, just above where the add to cart button is, it gives the price. Take your mouse cursor just above this and you should find the link for the dimensions and floorplan becomes visible/usable.
