Tis sorted but I had to trek back to Winfields where they exchanged the whole tent.
It was frankly a bit of an unsettling experience...they were terribly pleasant towards me, but stuff like 2 of them checking the receipt, asking when I bought it, and looking inside the bag made me feel like any minute now I was going to be accused of something bad. And then as I was leaving the manager said to the CS lady " I need to have a word with you about this tent..." as they disappeared into the back room. Don't know what was going on but there was a definite undercurrent. Still, as I say, pleasant to me and no probs doing the exchange. However I felt uncomfortable enough that I went to a different shop for my sleeping bag and camping stove. Their loss!
AJ don't feel bad, I'm already able to laugh about it
Shame you had to go back but at least it's sorted now.
Obviously couldn't read their own receipts if they had to ask you when you bought it!
Sounds like CS lady has made a boo boo - this is either a tent that has already been returned or one that was used to replace a faulty flysheet and either way should have been sent back to the makers.
Methinks CS lady had already had it out with the manager and was being adamant she hadn't f****d up - manager had his own suspicions and was double checking everything.
oh oh I'd better check mine - I too bought the outwell oregon 5 from winfields at discounted price - thought it was a bargain. Mine also looks like it has been factory packed. Me thinks I'd better unpack completely to see what I've got for my money. Feels by the weight like a complete tent but you never know. Hopefully I've got the complete tent.
