My own experience with Aspinalls has been far from good , but why not do a 'search' on here (using the icon at the top of this page), as retailers are discussed as well as tents and equipment (and everything else related to camping!).
i found that site and was pondering on the khyam 400 or 600 from there
but i kind of thought well a 2nd is a 2nd after all, do i want risks of faulty ties/zips/dodgy seams?
i also then thought maybe ppl who sell the tents on ebay are selling seconds too
i don't mind weeny faults if i knew what it was and easily fixable - but i know i would be happier if i can easily return something not to my standards
they are cheaper - but still not THAT cheap - i haven't decided if its worth risk!
I suspect that, if you get a good one from Aspinalls, all will be fine. If you get a problematic one, prepare to fight for fair play (and probably to be disappointed!).
bought a Khyam From there a few years ago with no probs the only thing I could fault with the tent is that it didn't come with the instruction video so it mean't i had to work it out for my self, they delivered really promptly too so would definatly reccomend.
------------- life is like a box of chocolates you never no what your gonna get
I have just bought a khyam day shelter from them for half price. The delivered it with 2 days, but the ground sheet was missing. I phoned them up and they said that one will be ordered direct from Khyam. I can't fault their customer service so far, but I will let you know if no ground sheet arrives. The only thing I had a problem with is they only give you 7 days to get it back to them if you do not want it! So in this weather we found it hard to get the day shelter up and look it over. The only fault I can see is one patch, but everything else seems ok. With delivery costs I saved about £30, on the price of a new one.
What I would really be interested to know (and no disrespect intended to anyone who has already posted their views, which are all of course fair and valid) is; has anyone had a problem with a tent purchase from Aspinalls and had it sorted without quibble? That is what determines a good seller, in my book.
They have been great with my missing groundsheet for my day shelter. I phoned them up and she called back the same day to tell me that they have arranged one to be sent to me direct from Khyam. They have always been polite and answer the phone quickly when I have called. I am really pleased with the service and the quality of the day shelter I bought
I bought a ultimate classic from Aspinalls, went to collect it myself and they were happy to errect a couple there and then so i could choose the best in addition to this I got it for less than the advertised price.

Which khyam tent are you interested in? we have just purchased an xxl classic from www.camping-intl.co.uk for £299 which includes footprint groundsheet.
Many thanks for the advice everyone, what a brilliant site this is. Anyway i bought a Khyam Ultimate Classic 2007 model for £450 from www.norwich-camping.co.uk thought that was a pretty good price.
Anyone want a Vango Diablo 900? don't think i need 2 tents!

Discretion would be more advisable when possibly libelling a retailer in a public forum...Could involve expensive litigation.
We are all at liberty to post our personal experiences, Safeway56. What would be unacceptable is if anyone lied, to purposefully damage someone's reputation.
In my case, I should be happy to prove my experiences in court, and have a mountain of evidence to substantiate my position, should Mr Aspinall care to enter into any dispute about the way we were treated.
We did not ultimately take Mr Aspinall to the Small Claims Court because of additional cost and hassle (which I had already had, aplenty, after our dealings with this company) but his customer service, in our case, was disrespectful and unprofessional. Details were forwarded to Khyam Customer Services and Trading Standards.
If everyone on this public forum felt they could not post experiences and views, we would not have a forum!
