A brand new Vango 450 for £61 incl delivery. I'd been looking at Vango since reading the good reviews on here. We've just got back from Australia where we camped 'out bush' with my 4WD mad brother & his family & we've well & truly got the bug! I was looking at ebay this evening & this 2006 stock Vango 450 was on there for £50 plus £10 delivery, I bid £51 with 3 minutes to go and won.
Please tell me I've done the right thing!! Hubby is still at work so hasn;t a clue yet. There'll be us 2 and a 9yr old - it looked plenty big enough for now - just need some reassurance please!
Hi Mrs K and welcome to UKCS a most addictive website. Sounds like you got a bargain there and Vango are a very good make of tent. Sure someone will be along shortly who has used this tent but wanted to welcome you to the site. Happy Camping
Thanks so much for your warm welcomes! I stumbled upon UKCS when I started researching tents and heeded your warnings of ebay-only tents, hence why I knew the Vango was a good deal.
My camping experiences started when I was 6 months old - a VERY long time ago - We spent all of our childhood school holidays at Nunnington Farm at West Wittering, West Sussex, back in the days of chemical toilets in tin toilet blocks, emptied by the pooh-lorry! My mum worked in a school and so had all the school holidays off. Dad used to take us down and set everything up at the start of the holidays and mum & us would stay for the whole 6 weeks of summer with Dad going home to work during the week and back down to us at weekends. My parents started a trend and soon there were lots of other mums & kids staying whilst Dads went back to work. We had a huge tent for the 5 of us, a caravan gas oven & a proper sized fridge! We were ready for anything! Mum & Dad were great pals of the owners and as I reached teenage years & mum's job changed, I spent my holidays staying & working there throughout the summer, emptying the bins, cleaning the modern toilet block (twice a day during peak season) & selling gas & sweets in the on-site shop. Oh what memories!!
Am so looking forward to 'meeting' you all and hearing all your hints and tips - on camping in general as well as sites.
One thing someone might be able to help on - in Oz my brother had a fab table, aluminum slatted top which came away from the legs and folded fan-style, the legs folded away too and all fit together in a bag not much bigger than one of the slats. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and any ideas who stocks them here in the UK please?
thanks again - I think it'll be a very late night - I'm hooked!!

Do you mean something like this? There are lots of different styles, sizes and makes for sale, try doing a google search, using 'slatted aluminium table' and it is sure to bring up lots to choose from.
Just a word of caution here; seems we are assuming you have bought a Vango Equinox 450, it could in fact be a Gamma 450, which were reduced to just under £60, I do believe, at many retailers.
Either way, you have not paid too much, but just want you to be aware it might not be the absolute bargain we were assuming.
No I'm afraid it is not an Equinox- that really would have been a bargain. It is the Vango Gamma 450, which I have since seen at a similar price on other websites, plus delivery so still feeling chuffed as punch seeing as it was originally £100+.
My first ever tent (which I still have) was a Vango Gamma 250. They are great tents, easy to put up and there is a reasonable amount of room in the porch area. It got me and my other half into camping and we haven't looked back.
We have a 'Royal' brand aluminium roll-up slatted table which we use with our larger tent (the Wynnster) but personally I would wait and try to see how big the tent is when you try it out, as you might need that valuable porch space for the three of you.
Welcome Mrs K - I hope you enjoy the UKCS site as much as I do.
We started camping last summer and went to Nunnington Farm a couple of times. You wouldn't recognise it from your earlier description but it is still a great place to stay, especially for kids.
Anyone on here will tell you, once you get the camping bug you can't get rid of it. But you can make a lot of very good friends.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
