Isn't there some logic about NOT reproofing canvas tents as the canvas naturally repels water by the way it swells?
I seem to remember Val posting something on the subject a while ago, it might be worth a search? ------------- Piglet

I usually give my canvas a light spray with Fabsil every 4 or 5 years.------------- Ally

When I had a frame tent I just got it out and checked it each year in rain or with hose pipe. When it started to look like the fabric was soakingthrough rather than the water sitting on top of it, I re-proofed with Fabsil - so probably about every 3 years I reckon.

I think you mean Thomsons brick sealant. Same ingredients at a fraction of the price of Fabsil.

read what it says on the side of the tin. loads of people on this forum have used it! i too was sceptical until i got a tin and checked their website this is what it says:
CANVAS/FABRICS: Thompson’s Water Seal waterproofs natural fabric, canvas, tents, tarpaulins, shoes, backpacks, sleeping bags, ground sheets, etc. (Note: Thompson’s Water Seal may darken certain fabrics).
