HI, WE,RE VERY NEW TO CAMPING AND HAVE JUST BOUGHT OUR FIRST TENT A DIABLO 600, CAN SOMEONE TELL US IF THESE ARE EASY TO PUT UP? AND CAN YOU PUT THEM UP SINGLE HANDED WHILE THE MRS KEEPS THE KIDS OUT OF THE WAY? HOW LONGS IT GONNA TAKE ETC, THANKS
Hi and welcome, we got the same tent last year. Congratulations on buying a fantastic tent. I think you will probably struggle trying to do it on your own, I personally would say you need at least two of you. We have found the more times we do it the easier it becomes.
CHEERS, I THINK I WILL STRUGGLE ON ME OWN ,BUT THE MRS IS LIKE FRANK SPENSOR SO I,LL TAKE THE CHANCE, BETTER TO GET THERE SLOWLY THAN AV TO SLEEP IN THE CAR AFTER A BIG ROW
Hi and welcome, you really need to have someone to help you raise the dome - the easiest thing is for your wife to go inside and hold it up whilst you connect the poles.
If you try to lift the dome with the poles you are very likely to damage the poles. It's not the easiest of tents to pitch anyway so make sure you have a practice pitch somewhere quiet before you go!
....and - turn your caps lock off - in internet etiquette using all capitals is regarded as shouting - enjoy the site
ta very much ,every days a school day, im learning about tents and MANNERS, do intend to give it a go in the garden when it gets a bit dryer, just wondering if i should start it bout 6am so it would be up for the nighttime
We have the Diablo 900, as you probably know very much the same as the 600, and you do really need two people - but not all the time. Most of the preparation work can be done single handed, the main problem is raising the dome for which you do need someone inside. Also for pulling the flysheet over the top it's a great help to have a second pair of hands. Once the main dome is erected, you can again get on single handed, similarly with the flysheet. You don't say how old the kids are, but they don't need to be that old to help, even if it's just handing you pegs as you go around. Good luck with your camping. Remember, putting up a tent is not a race. Have some drinks to hand - either alcoholic or not, whatever takes your fancy, take your time and don't row (but I bet you will the first time . Putting up the tent and setting it out is a part of you holiday. Treat it as such and not just a chore.
Really does need two to put up the dome (but it helps if you peg down the back end before bending and pegging the front of the cross over poles),also could do with help to pull the flysheet over.Took us ages when we tried to put it up the first time (you should have a trial run as we bought ours only a few days before going and really struggled in bad weather in Cornwall) but now much quicker and an alcoholic beverage (or two!)does help.
HI there I have got the same problem. So I practiced putting it up on my own is quite easy just remember once you have fed all the poles through peg down some corners. So when you pop it up it has some thing to push against it took me 45 mins not bad considering the instructions say 40 mins with two people.

The main thing about having the footprint is you roll it out on the floor that then shows you the position your bedrooms and corner poles should be when erected. You must keep all the zips closed until you have fully erected and pegged out if you don't you will find that the bedrooms will be difficult to zip closed (we know from experience )the footprint keeps the tent clean also.I think you will have problems trying to erect yourself especially if there is any breeze blowing. Before we went on our first holiday with it we took ours to a nearby field and kept practising, first time i thought we had made a big mistake and nearly ended up throwing tent pegs at each other but the second time it went up like a dream and we couldn't believe what a mess we made of it the first time.Good luck you have bought a great tent
thanks alot to all ,feeling a bit more confident now , and glad to see it can be done single handed, the footprint looks a fair bet aswell but a bit worried about car space do they take up much room?
I'd be very careful raising the dome single handed. You might get away with it for a while but you're putting a huge strain on the poles and are very likely to break at least one pole. If you want a tent to pitch single handed this design is really not very suitable.
