I always recommend getting to a display. Nothing like sseing a tent in the flesh before buying. Let us know where you are based, and others local to you can make recommendations.

i have a gelert lokon vario 6 loads of living space, 2 large bedrooms and easy to put up, tunnel tents are fantastic because of the headroom all the way through, also you can find the 2006 model for £150 instead of about £250 for the 2007 model, a bargin

Hi we've been camping for many a year now and we've bought 3 tents during this time, to cope with growing family!  we alway bought outwell from camping shop, but last year we bought ProAction Nevada 8 person, 3 room tent from ARGOS!  for £159.99, great tent, not expensive - big loads of room and there is only 4 for us, room to store bikes etc if the weather not good, plus its not too expensive if you're just starting out - hey you may not enjoy camping - but i can't see why you wouldn't enjoy it!!!  everyone is sooooo friendly where ever you go!

cheers sarah

Always wondered about tunnel tents when going past farms. Farmers use tunnels as a cheaper alternative to greenhouses. Who got the idea first ? Farmers or tent manufacturers ?

Hi ,have a look around at camping stores ,see one you like the look of then if you can pop back and if anyone found it to be a ringer!

Safest way of doing it ,even if it is a bt of a messing about!

Plenty of people here will reccomend a tent before they have even used it themselves so beware!! you buy it on recommendation ,6 months later they are whining it leaks /fell apart ,you already bought one on their say so

There are a few nice tents in the ads section at the top of the page, all within your budget. There is a Hartford XL with porch, check my gallery to see this set up, there is also a couple of Aspens,if you see a tent just type it into the search to see what people think.

The Coleman Magellan 9 is a bargain at the moment (here) (under your budget) and this retailer is good to deal with.

It has three separate bedroom pods but not a massive footprint. It pitches outer first (the Aspen you mentioned is nice, and also available at a good price at the mo, but pitches inner first, which isn't everyone's cuppa tea), poles for the dome are aluminium - light but strong - and the pack size isn't mega. It also has a SIG.

I couldn't resist one myself (though I am really a canvas devotee) and, subsequently, a friend of mine bought one too. I wanted a quick to pitch synthetic with three bedrooms and SIG, and this fits the bill nicely.

Best of luck, whatever you decide!

PS
If you still fancy an Aspen, it is a good price here and I can again tell you, from personal experience, that this seller is good to deal with, too.
