Well we managed to get our friends 2006 SV8 up today. It went up really well, the main door opened and closed without trouble. Then we noticed that the left side looked higher than the right. Oh no.....yes the left hand side of the SIG was raised off the ground by a good couple of inches and the 2 berth pod was pulling the SIG up when it was toggled to the floor, and the rear pods were also raised off the floor. I checked we'd got it right, took it down, made sure the poles were square with the material and the problem is still there. Also, the porch groundsheet would not attach correctly without stretching the fittings to breaking point.
So, our friends will be going back to GoOutDoors to see what can be done albeit a little disappointed that the tent wasn't quite right. They still loved it though and hopefully (fingers crossed) we'll be putting another one up soon.
We also tried our recently acquired 1.3M door poles on the main door while we had it up. Well I think it could actaully work, you've got to duck a little to get in BUT the slope on the door shouldn't allow the water in now. £10 well spent to replace the tents 2M door poles, which I'll use on the Oklahoma now.
Cheers,
Pete.
PS. No, we decided not to check it for leaks, probably best as it already had the SIG problem.
Hi same happened with my SV8 when we put it up for the first time on Wednesday took it back Mitchels and they put it up and suprise suprise nothing wrong with it, must have been how we'd pitched it. The ground sheet was flat on the floor no pulling on the 2 bed pod every thing was as it should be. I'll have to have another practice to get it up like he did
We've got a 2005, and we re-pitched our friends 2006 model twice and it was clearly too high on the left hand side. Tried to make sure the material was level on the pole too and from the outside it all looked square until we opened the front door !
Anyway, our friends have taken it up with GoOutDoors so we'll see what happens.
Hi Pete yes mine is a 2006 model bought for me as a Christmas Pressie from my OH, and mine was just the same on the left side but when i took it back and they put it up its perfect i'm glad as they have stoped selling the SV8 this year at go outdoors ( mitchels in Wakefield ) so i don't know what i would have done as i realy like this tent its just what i want for my 2 Grandsons Daughter and my self.
I have just returned from 4 days in Barmouth, the SV8 FANTASTIC, I didn't notice any of the problems mentioned but it is a 2007 model. That said it didn't rain so still no idea if it's waterproof.
We camped without EHU and it was freezing during the night but lovely and warm during the day, the brand new campingaz bed collapsed within an hour of being inflated and we spent the first night on the floor only for me to remember I had packed an old one in the boot, I was very popular as you can imagine.
All that said we are off to the lakes Tuesday and I have EHU and the first camp of the season out of the way so fingers crossed, I hope you all get your SV8 sorted out and I look forward to hearing your stories.

Well our friends 2006 SV8 has gone back......and.....drum roll.....he is getting a 2007 as a replacement....eventually as I understand it. I'd given my friend Mark Jennings (Outwell UK Rep) contact details and he was on-side. So, looking forward to test pitching a 2007 model now.
Rob - great that your first camp was successful. Sorry to hear about the dodgy bed...we use Colemans and not had any problems. Hope the Lakes were just as good....looks like you've certainly had good weather....hope that was the case. Would you mind posting up the site and what it was like in reply ?
By the way, just got the Outwell carpet to fit in the SIG.....wow....worth the expenditure, and we'll be testing it for real in a couple of weeks.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
