Nice to see you both at the meet even if it was just for a short visit, and thanks for bringing the 300 custard creams and chocolate bourbons plus the crisps and beers. Simon won't starve this week
sorry bob but funds ran out so i had to make for home , cost more in petrol than i thought it would , lol maybe next time ok , thanks , regards jan
No problems, Jan. I am living on a shoe string at the moment so understand the problems. The trouble with retiring is that the cost of living keeps going up but the income doesn't...I'll probably end up in the workhouse eventually
So what happened in the end Bob? I was a little while longer at Swanage than I thought, mind you it was nice though. I managed to get to the Lulworth cove to take a few pictures but by the time I got to Lyme Regis it was dark. Still I had a walk around before moving on to Weston-Super-Mare and finally reaching home after a little rest just after four in the morning. Then I get back to hear nice weather is on its way this week and a big light in my head shines up and I think day out and camping. Well the car got me home despite it's bearing issue maybe I should put off repairing it for a couple of weeks. Apart from the odd barking Penelope was as good as gold, mind you it only seems at men.

Shortly after you left Simon, I decided to pack up and come home. I needed to get home before dark as I don't see too well after dark. Glad you managed to fit everything in. I don't know how you manage all that driving without getting too tired. Glad you got home ok.
Penelope was very well behaved and a nice dog. Perhaps training classes might get her out of barking at passers-by. It's just the look of Staffordshire Bull Terriers that frighten people (including me). Other than that she was lovely.
Well I have a funny story to tell about her. On the way home they had closed off some roads and diverted them, and I wanted to get on the M5 home. I pulled up next to a group of police officers and road workers and opened up the window and asked about the roads. A man came up to the car and popped his head in the left window to talk to me. Hmmm big mistake as Penelope was that quiet snuggled up in the car I forgot she was in there and well all of a sudden this loud barking noise scared us both and this dog appeared. We both jumped a mile and I said she ok when you you say hello etc but he decided to step back and give me directions.
Now back to the driving, to be honest I don't like it that much, I just love visiting new places and taking pictures etc, and could be the very own one man and his dog. But I just rather just appear at those places. I suppose some people smoke and drink a lot and my weakness is adventure. I forgot how quick it gets dark now, so Lyme Regis is back on the list for places to visit, but this time in day light.
All together I covered Oxford, Droitwhich, Burley, Brokenhurst?, Morton on Sea?, New Melton, Christchurch, Southbourne, Boscombe, Sand Banks, Wareham, Corfe Castle, Swanage, Lulworth Colve, Lyme Regis, Weston Super Mare finally got tired near Worcester before having a few hours Kip.

Could have done with Penelope when I got my speeding points, Simon.
She was lovely and quiet when I met her. And clever enough to wind the window down on your car...she wanted to be included in our meet. I bet she's a great camping companion. I wouldn't want to camp without my dog.
Glad to hear you made it home OK...did you make it to Weymouth?
No I asked a local to Weymouth about the roads and while at Swanage and he said good luck, besides even though i was so tempted I have been there more than once so I made my way to Lyme Regis. It is good having a dog with me, especially it gives me an excuse to excersize. I said it was going to rain down Wareham on Saturday Night and Sunday so I am glad I left early only to arrive home to rain. As for the speeding, well some cameras are there to make money etc and put in places designed to catch people out. But when they are placed in correct places where they should be I do not have a problem with them. Driving home last night the speed signs were all messed up, and one was when it went from a 30 to a 40 then 60 for a very short time and then going to a 30 again, down a hill and a speed camera ready to catch people out. Now that is one of my pet hates. I disagree with people who speed but on important roads, but on roads such as the motorway they are designed for us to go faster so I feel why not. Although I was very careful going home last night and saved fuel, it said from Lyme Regis I had 162 miles to travel home and approx 162 in the tank and by careful driving I managed to save 16 miles of fuel so that was a bonus. It is not easy to drive that way as at some point I just wanted to put my foot on the throttle.
What I love about my car despite its current faults I still managed above 55 mpg.

Am very envious of those who made it to this meet this weekend - was great camping weather from what I had in London, but Husband and I were celebrating his birthday so wasnt able to make this one.
Really hope to make one soon though!
Hope it was fun!
