I'm simon from Derbyshire
I've been caravaning for 20 +years but due to circumstances
Me and my 11 year old daughter
want to try camping this year. I brought a tent last year
But still waiting to go away in it together
I took it fishing last year to Barlows in Derbyshire for a few days
We are fun people easy to get on with and fun to be around
Just wondering if anyone else was in the same situation
And fancied meeting up
We are not bothered where we go as we enjoy traveling
For a great weekend for yourself and daughter check out the Elvaston Steam Rally thread in this meeting up section. It's the first weekend in July, there's something there for everyone and as you live in Derbyshire anyway it should be easy enough for you to get to. Camping is from the Friday afternoon until noon on the Monday, and if you book as a UKCS member using the form from the link in the thread you get a discount on the entry fee. The fee gives you unlimited access to the show on both the Saturday and Sunday plus the evening entertainment.
There are lots of UKCS members who go year after year and many of them meet up with others they know for a chat and a brew (or beer) or two. If you made yourself known to a few people I'm sure you'd be made welcome.

Hi Simon...I'm about to embark on camping (well, camper vanning) with my 11 year old daughter...I put the order in for the van today, so hopefully will have it in about 6 weeks time, so will be out and about in that. I'm a bit apprehensive being on my own, after caravanning for a good few years with my late husband, but I felt really odd when the caravan was sold so looking forward to having the new van and new adventures.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
