Although I am in my second year as a member, I have yet to attend one of their meets due to clashes with my schedules.
However, they appear to be quite active as a club.
I may not renew my membership next year as I prefer to and happily go camping on my own with the dog.
Good luck!

Sorry, don't understand what you meant by paying to be on UKCS as it is free.
Been a solo female camper for years since 2009. If I don't camp or do anything else on my own, then I shan't do anything at all.
Nothing difficult, just need to be more conscientious about personal safety and do my due diligence with care.
There is a spin off group for solo campers, however they seldom post in UKCS or advertise their meets.
You can try contacting UKCS admin and ask them to put you in touch with that group.
Good luck.

Mostly a solo male caravaner, with dog! I'm surprised at how many solo campers I find on many sites, and on some occasions the solo females outnumber the males! Last couple of trips I've been on reckon it must have been near 40% of pitches were solos!
There seems to be no stigma to it that I can see, accepted as normal. Most proper sites with on site staff seem safe enough, and I've NEVER heard of any unpleasantness. I might be less enthused by absent management sites though.
I fully accept that my view of the world may differ from yours, I'm a big fit bloke, albeit an old git, and I have a lively Border Collie with me, so may not attract the same attention a solo woman may get, but never seen any untoward actions or heard suggestive comments towards the women campers.
I find most campsites quite friendly, and it's rare not to strike up conversation with others, TBF, my dog is a great icebreaker, she's pretty and a bit of a people magnet! I suppose I'm not quite shy and retiring, so will start chatting to others.
I can understand you maybe wanting a bit of social activity that comes from a crowd, but solo camping is not as isolated as some might imagine. I always go away with an agenda of things I want to do, places I want to visit etc., so I'm not sitting idle waiting for something to happen, or others to approach me.
Solo camping is fine, take a chance, if you do find it too isolated, then as DK suggests, there are a number of solos clubs to join.
I am seeing more solo female campers in the last couple of years, mostly with campervan or MHs, with the odd caravanner.
I only go to club sites (I belong to both C&CC and CAMC) or independent sites with staff on duty or contactable 24/7.
I do not go to remote sites or go off-grid for personal safety concerns.
Much prefer to solo camp with the dog so as to have the freedom to do what I like when I feel like it, etc. etc...

Thanks for advise I have done a few trips by my self and I have been a cc &mh member in the past just think there getting too expensive I don't have a dog do t want that commitment now but do get what you mean . Groups would be the best going forward just many in the North.
There’s also the Motor Caravanners Club, I see their pennant at small Rallies on a CS near me in Ayrshire. Maybe that’s too far north for you.

No idea about cost for that club. But it’s worth joining CAMC or CCC if you stay on a club site 5 times a year. Though I find them £10 pn more expensive than good independent sites, even for members.
I’ve camped solo in a tent (no doors to lock!), on site, albeit years ago & dog-less. People passing by said hello (and usually commented on the smell of my fresh coffee) but nothing more, ever - it’s a fine line between wanting to be sociable and finding some people too intrusive.
at Fiona and Monty - I am not going to renew my NCCC membership after my subscription has expired next year, as I prefer to be on my own with the dog when I go camping.
The dog is the sociable one who wants to play all the time, whereas I am the grumpy one who puts out the 'leave me alone' vibe, to the extent that I would sit with my back to the path so that I would not need to engage with any passer-by's.

I seem to be having the exact opposite problem to being a solo camper!
I LIKE going away, just me and the dog, I WANT to be solo, but on learning of my planned trips, friends want to tag along - NOOOO! 'I want to be alone' to quote a famous actress (well at least one of her characters did!).
Have I got to go on 'stealth holidays', not telling anyone I'm going away? - then I'll have well meaning friends getting the Police to break my front door down on a 'welfare check' 'cos they haven't seen me around, and I didn't say I was going away!!!!
How exactly do you tell a friend "F*** O**, you aren't coming!" without killing a friendship stone dead!

Luckily, I don't have this issue, in that I do not have many friends who are campers!
Hang on, I don't have many friends, full stop!

That is REALLY not convincing in UK in late Sept-Nov!!!!!!
Besides that probably only makes it worse, the ladies may well shy away, but the drunken blokes may still be up for it, and worse still may want to live up to the threat after too many sherbets even if campsite is obviously NOT nudist!!!!

I have seen single female campervanners on the Quiet Site at Ullswater.
As I and others have said before, it's really quite commonplace. I tend to use CAMC club sites which bring a degree of certainty of standards and site security which may account for the appeal to solo females. I can't think of a stay in past 2 or 3 years where solo females (and males for what it's worth) were not present!

Site security with 24/7 warden being available on site is the main reason why I use C&CC and CAMC club sites, and not their smaller, quieter and more remote CS and CL.
