So I have an old 2 berth caravan. It was last towed 3 years ago. I'm not sure it's that saleable really so I'm looking at scrapping it.
Google results aren't good... lots of websites that look a bit flakey. other sites that don't get back to you. So far I've managed to get one quote which is very high!
Does anyone have any suggestions on where might take it for a reasonable price in the south east of england? The handful of dedicated yards seem to be miles away. I think I could probs get it there myself if it wasn't too far from the border of london.
Two options that come to mind to avoid paying for it's disposal as scrap, advertise it for free to anyone who can collect (making clear it may need making roadworthy before being towable, or flatbed truck transport!). Some people do actually like restoring/renovating old caravans, so may be some interest as a DIY project.
Thank you for those links. I have text a couple of the breakers.
While I don't think I'd take it on any round-the-world trips at the moment, maybe it is still useful as a home office or kids play space or something to someone. Or as you say, perhaps a project for someone. So I will consider listing it too.
I will jack it up tonight and see if the wheel-bearings and brakes are ok. That might be a starting point for anyone local who can use it.
