Hello again. Well i have sold our self build camper van and gone back to a caravan. Any went to collect caravan hooked it up and all the rear lights came on. Indicators were fine as was fog light. But brake light and reverse light stayed on. Guy who fitted our new towbar sorted the reverse light on car but said the brake light problem was definitely in the caravan side. The 13pin plug did look a bit worse fir wear but everything seemed to work just wouldn't go off. I have tried to remove bulb covers on lights but no joy. The tab at bottom of light is depressing fine but cover not t budging any advice most welcome i have a new 13pin plug to fit but towbar guy is also auto electrician told me to check bulbs first for failure ir corrosion.. Thanks again
My first thought is that if the come on at normal brightness, the bulbs are likely to be fine as are the sockets so leave the covers on unless there is nothing else to look at because the plastic may be brittle. Check the inside of the 13 pin plug, it may well have suffered corrosion from water ingress or loose connections.

Thank you for reply. I will fit new 13pin. And hopefully that will resolve problem for now. But just kicking can down the road as these will need to come off eventually poor design. I have 4 lights each side and couldn't budge 1 of them. And looks like the bumper corners will need to come off to access the light that sits above it. As there's no room to access the light release tab
?? It looks like the whole rear corner posts that house the lights can be removed is that correct. ??
I have a 2009 Pageant Burgundy so same lights. Never had occasion to open them up to repair or change bulbs. That keeps the seal intact and prevents water ingress to corrode.
Should you actually need to replace a bulb or check for corrosion, there is a couple of little rib type extrusions at the bottom of the light cover, place a flat bladed screwdriver carefully between them and gently lever to undo the clip that holds the cover on.
There is no need to remove anything, the bulb holder is stuck in with a double sided foam ring, (which you will need to buy to refit) and the cover is held on by a clip that you just move from the front as above.

Thanks Dave. Hopefully new 13pin connection will solve problem. Dave i have had 5 caravans. But this is the first one that had the ATS breaking system
Never even heard of it until i bought this olympus. Are they trouble free or just trouble. When i connect my it goes red then green then off. Is it supposed to stay green or does it wait for you to move off. ??

It doesn't sound like yours is operating correctly. The ATC goes through a 'self test' procedure on powering up, giving various indications of 'functionality' via the lamp, and a 'whir' noise as motorised mechanism sets itself. If it passes it's internal 'self test procedure' the lamp should remain lit solid green whilst the system is powered. If it flashes green, you may need to move the van a short distance (literally a metre or two) to 'settle' the brakes, then the light should go solid green. Anything else is a fault.
ATC is pretty trouble free, most common fault seems to be failure of the indicator light! As it's indication is vitally important to the correct functioning of the system, a failed lamp should NOT be ignored and needs replacing! There is ONE fault condition where it is unsafe to tow the van, because the brakes may be applied inappropriately whilst in motion, and the ATC unit would need to be physically disconnected from the braking system to tow safely.
ATC is a worthwhile safety device, although it should never operate in normal circumstances with a correctly set up van, and it's most certainly not a driving aid to compensate for badly loading or driving style, BUT it can be the big difference between 'upside down in a ditch' and a twitchy bum at a 'bit of a wobbly moment'!
Before getting too concerned about possibly faulty ATC, get your 13 pin plug sorted, with your lighting issues it sounds highly suspect! The ATC needs a specific high power connection (fused at 20A) on the 13 pin plug of Pin 9 for always live power, and Pin 13 for suitable earth return.
Had mine for 9 years, and apart from faulty lamp when I bought the van (fixed by dealer for free), it's been fine. Only known of one case of suspected fault, and not entirely sure that wasn't down to user error as new owner on first trip out with van!
Really appreciate this advice
As this is a whole new piece of equipment to deal with and do some homework on. I converted our camper van from scratch. Electric gas 12v 240 v solar
So. I wont let this beat me. ??

As said ATC is a good safety feature but still load the van properly. I've very occasionally felt the ATC activate with severe cross winds and the like but for most of the time it just sits there monitoring. The only problem we ever encountered was a defective LED that stayed red constantly and put the wind up me.
Looking through other peoples posts, problems experienced and answers found on here is a great way to increase you caravanning knowledge, most folk have encountered every problem at one point or another so free information exchange is so important.

The new 13pin connector sorted the lights on caravan. Apart from the rear fog light.then i noticed the fog bulb in my var car is lying inside the lense cover. Must have happened during towbar installation. Would the fig light h bulb missing from car effect the power going to fog light in caravan.
Thanks Dave. Not sure what you mean
But i will get new bulb in car first then check new 13pin plug as the original bailey wiring loom has some different coloured wires. That only they used ie a red and white also a blue and grey and a red and brown. ??
The short answer is that one bulb out generally does not affect the other, whether that bulb is on the car or caravan.
Yes, it is confusing when the cable you have is differently coloured from the diagram you have, I have had the same problem. You will find it's only a few that differ and some wires are thicker, (to take more current) than others so that is another clue, i.e., there may be two reds or blacks but one is likely to be thicker than the other, it has a specific pin for each and it should be marked as such on your wiring diagram. I would however make a good note of your particular setup when you get it sorted for future reference.

Yes. Its all done now.. Got original bailey wiring diagrams from chat GBT. And even bailey had 2 different colour schemes ?? just had to re locate a few wires to correct pin positions. So thinking now just need a new fog bulb for caravan. Its been a head scratcher. But got there. Appreciate your help its been the difference. ??
You are very welcome and well done you for asking the question in the first place, then ploughing your way through the obstacles in your path to reach a positive conclusion. As for wiring colours, I suppose they used what was available at the time.
As for the bulb that's loose in the light, it may be OK and just needs refitting or one of the pins on the side is missing so won't stay in the holder. The bulbs themselves are bog standard car types, single filament for most so readily available and should be cheap because of that.

The bulb globe is detached from bulb fitting. And lying loose in lense cover The bayonet fitting is still in place. ?? But really appreciate the help. ??
