I had a new 2 berth caravan in 2017 and had a powertouch motor mover added at the time of purchase. Since then I have had 3 new motors on the motor mover, 2 on the left, 1 on the right and the right has now gone again. Three have been replaced under warranty but as it is now over 5 years Powertouch do not want to know. Each motor has only lasted 2 years maximum. Anyone else had problems with their motor mover?

I had a Powrtouch 'Evolution' motor mover fitted when I purchased the caravan over 6 years ago and never had any problems with it whatsoever. I believe there are many others too that have never encountered any problems during the 5 year warranty period apart from being battery related.

I had a new PT MM fitted to my 4 berth van when I purchased it s/h in 2018, only problem I've had is the connecting engagement shaft between units (which didn't stop me engaging units independently) and they were brilliant with dealing with that under warranty, otherwise it's been excellent and trouble free.

PT have a good reputation for reliability and excellent aftermarket support (one reason why I chose them when picking a MM!), your troubled experience really stands out as an exception (for ANY brand let alone PT!), makes you wonder if something with fitting or use is different to most of us, that's a pretty grim record!

What's wrong with the motor? Could you get it rebuilt by a local motor rewinding specialist, that would probably be far cheaper than buying a whole new motor.

There’s surely something else amiss here causing such a failure rate.
I’m really surprised that Powrtouch didn’t suggest something after the second motor went, as surely they must have thought it odd. And then for it to happen a third time , again this should have set alarm bells ringing at Powrtouch

XVI yes?

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

i had a motor fail on me about three years back.. it was a simple fault.. a bearing ran dry and started making a lot of noise.. corrosion on the end plate

the motors are pretty simple things and should last for a long time.. i cant think of any reason why they should fail prematurely..

a new one is currently £170 quid mine was £150 about three years back..
