Hi, my recently serviced Coachman has a very strange fault that I have failed to fix. The Dometic fridge was tested and ticked at the service but now shows red warning 12v and does not work on mains or gas but the warning goes out when connected to the car with the engine running. I put this down to the fridge until I realised that the tv booster also seems to be dead and the master control panel appears to think that it is in ‘engine running’ mode within which ‘some appliances may not function’. Any ideas gratefully received.

Did this start before or after the service? If after, get on to the servicer (they are good at messing things up). Can't help otherwise, sorry.

i bet they left your battery turned on (master switch or tv booster) that will flatten a battery quickly, this is clearly the case as when you contect to your car then everything starts working again. i bet you if you have been on ehu overnight that your battery will now be charged enough to fire up the fridge on gas

Could it be the system shutdown button? Worth a look.

If the caravan is connected to the car via the 13 pin plug and the engine is not running, the 12 volt electrics in the caravan will run from the car battery, not the caravan battery.

If the engine is running the 12 volt electrics in the caravan will be isolated and won't work except for the fridge on 12 volt and the caravan battery will charge albeit no very much.

If the caravan is not connected to the car the caravan 12 volt electrics will run from the caravan battery, but the fridge will not work on 12 volt.

In our caravan it is under the side bench where all the fuse boxes etc are, ours is big box with buttons on the top and the system shutdown is a black pushbutton. I hope this helps.
