So we recently took on a Bailey Persuit 2014 model. We believe it's been sat a little while and im looking to spruce things up a little and make things a little easier to open/use/operate, things such as locks, window seals, roof window glides etc.
I was just wondering if there's any sprays/solutions you would recommend for re-lubricating things such as the seals etc so they don't/won't perish equally with the glides for the roof windows, they are a little sticky, is there a caravan-safe equivalent of WD-40 etc?
Anything else you would suggest sprucing up/servicing on our own initially to get things a little more operational and easy to use.
One piece of advice I would offer as a past owner of a pursuit would be to store the van facing north if possible to minimise heat from the sun on all the big windows and also, very importantly, always leave it with the toilet roof light open and fly screen closed to let heat out.
I think in modern times of hotter summers, the internal heat build up is beyond the limits of adhesives used during construction.
Available from most DIY type outlets, ebay etc. etc.
Many recommend Thetford Toilet Seal Lubricant for window/door rubber seals.
DO NOT use any oil based (ordinary WD40, Vaseline etc.) on rubber, and be very careful with what products you get into contact with the windows, Acrylic is easily damaged by many chemicals.
Based on buying an old MH, years ago: take out the carpets & vacuum then Vax them (other carpet shampoo machines are available). Similarly, steam clean the seats. We have a dog, so we cover the seats with nice rugs anyway, but it freshens any smells & wine spills.
We ended up replacing our roof lights because the acrylic had gone cloudy, that made a huge difference. Your caravan will be too new for that.
Parts from Leisureshopdirect (again, there are other websites but they’re comprehensive & have technical support).
I was advised to get a 'quick-drying silicone' lubricant for the seals and the runners for my drop down bed, and not to use the ordinary WD-40 spray, and bought this one:

I agree, wd 40 silicon will lubricate most things in a caravan without any long term damage. I also use it to lubricate the awning rail before trips away to make things easier when we set up. Used it for a lot of years. Screw fix is the cheapest. Have fun on your caravan holidays.
Thanks for the ideas on the WD40 silicon guys. I grabbed myself a tin the other day, cleaned all seals and sprayed onto cloth and wiped down and simply...WOW, goodbye sticky window seals and roof-window glides are like brand new!
