Has anyone replaced the gas struts which hold the rooflight open, on a Midi Heki rooflight? Ours have failed and my partner is trying to replace them, but there are two pins at either end of the strut itself which are very difficult, if not impossible, to remove. Anyone any ideas? A Youtube video shows an entirely different fitting to ours.

I replaced ours a couple of years ago. From memory it was pretty straightforward.

I replaced mime on a Heki 2, so probably similar fixings. The little aluminium pin is held in place with a small spring clip called Starlock washer, They can be with or without a dome at the rear amd are generally a one time fix as removing then can deform and break them. Have a look at thi s link.

I found that removing the plastic caps was the hardest bit, thank goodness I had a pick/hook set in my box.
