My caravan fridge gas , has stopped working. Ok on electric and battery.tried the usual things on u tube, so thinking I my need some help from a caravan repair man. I am in Derbyshire, does any know any local mobile mechanics

Have you tried searching the forums? Eg There’s a very recent thread in the Motorhome section called “Dometic fridge not working on gas” & that got sorted by the OP with help from technie folk here.
Fairly common problem on fridges frequently run on gas is the Flue soots up and interferes with the hot gas flow that powers the refrigeration. It's recommended by manufacturer to clean the Flue several times a year if running mainly on gas.
I don't usually run fridge off gas we are usually on a hook up. I got it serviced,so just presumed everything ok. Just phoned two guys and they said they were to busy and to get In touch next week, so I may as well carry on on a hook up or go home, the weather looks a bit unsettled anyway.
I suppose an obvious question that should have been asked before, has the fridge worked on gas OK this trip and now stopped working, of has it just failed to light at all this trip?
Can you hear the spark from the igniter 'clicking'? May need a second person outside near the lower vent to listen if a push button 'piezo' igniter. The automatic electric continuous spark igniters can often be heard 'clicking' from inside the van.
If flue not sooted up, then bugs making it their home is another commonish problem that has the same effect of blocking the hot exhaust gas flow.
Much the same solution as 'sooting', it needs sweeping out with a suitable sized long bottle brush. How easy that is very much depends on location of external vents, some seem better placed than others to achieve this. Care needed not to damage/dislodge the burner assembly at bottom of flue, they can become fragile with age as they corrode. It's a DIY job if competent.

If it is not run on gas regularly the gas valve often sticks. If you remove the bottom outside grill and give the gas valve a tap the vibration often frees it,. I have always had a habit each time away of first run it on gas a few minutes before changing to mains. This keeps the valve free so as we can run off gas if for any reason site mains hookup fails.

Likewise, I always do a 'does it run on gas OK' check for fridge and heating before every trip, even though no intention of normally running on gas, just to ensure it can if I need to in an emergency. Otherwise the gas systems would never get used, and a risk of failure on site if I ever did need to run on gas.
Not sorted yet, trying to get a engineer, so thinking of going on holiday next week. So if any one knows a engineer I can go to while on my travels if I don't get sorted Monday or tuesday
