Hi, hoping someone can make some helpful suggestions. Our caravan started tripping the electrics when the heater was switched on. Have ordered a replacement element and removed old one however I had to replace old one as we had to use the caravan before new element arrived.

Unfortunately now, on filling the water system we have sprung leaks, particularly from near the pump, the surge damper I believe, at the whale pushfit joint. I hadn't disturbed any of the plumbing when removing and reinstalling the element, as far as I'm aware. It's been drained down for several months and on trying to prime the system it sprung a leak from the joint below the water pump. Is this liable to mean a new whale connector is needed, can the existing one be re-used/refurbed??
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Oh, I have tried re-seating the connection but it leaks when pump is switched on. Not sure I did this correctly tho.

Very careful examination of the fitting may provide an answer. There could be a bit of detrirus in the way of the seal, a split in the pipe or even the fitting itself. Sometimes this happens overwinter when residual water trapped in the system freezes, I lost a shower tap and a toilet pump like that after my first winter.

Brilliant Logic Dave, makes absolute sense, I will check at first opportunity. Many thanks.

Did you give the pipe a gentle pull after inserting into the joint?

this may help
