Hi all I have just replaced the main battery in my caravan after
years of trickle charges it did not get done last winter, so replacement
was due. On connecting the new leisure battery my Sargent alarm went off and did not stop.I will replace the control batteries so check if that helps. but for now had to leave the battery disconnected. Any advise please .
Depends on alarm model to some extent, but typical AS310 model alarm has a inbuilt backup (NiMH) battery that comes into play when the main leisure battery is flat/disconnected. Trouble is, they are meant to independently power the alarm for up to 6 months, but as they age they loose capacity and no longer keep alarm active for more than days and weeks.
Your alarm has probably 'reset' and lost it's pairing with the remote control, so you need to go through the 'remote pairing routine'. It's not terribly difficult, but does require getting inside the alarm box to activate a tiny push button switch on the PCB, the alarm box can be little tricky to access! It's worth putting a new battery in the remote fob first, to see if that is the problem, as that is MUCH easier.
Monty15 thanks for your reply , I reconnected the charged leisure battery , and alarm set off again , located the learn button whilst the alarm still sounding ( very loud ) , but go no blue light . I also tried to turn off the alarm from the internal on / off switch , but it kept sounding .Thanks for the links I will check with Sargent , perhaps
the board is faulty as its now 12 years old
Many thanks
You could ring Sargent direct, they have been very helpful to us in the past when we have had problems with the panel. They might be able to 'talk' you though a process whilst on the phone.
