my trumatic s 3000 only seemed to run at low heat so I had a little clean out and it seems to fire up at full pelt but I noticed when it was turned low it went out and didnt have a pilot light. the other odd thing is if it turn it midway to setting 5 when it isnt lit I can get it to fire up with the igniter without pressing the control knob down, as if it isnt requiring the pilot light to start up, and ideas?
As David has said needs a proper service,as Gas is not to be played with, definitely something is not right and you risk possible explosion if gas builds up. Safety devices are there for a purpose.
