I just had the same problem with mine. I took the white cover off (outside the caravan), then the metal plate that covers the burner.
It was full of cobwebs! I cleaned them out, found and removed the massive spider that was living in the fins, and fired it up. It lit straight away. So I put it back together, job done.

Hi nikkilocke, you joined UKCS in 2009 but you’ve only just got round to your first post! Welcome. This thread is about 12 years old, and the OP last posted in 2013, but others may find your point helpful.

Hi Arc systems, This is a very long shot but here goes, I have just become a member of UKCS and have read your post from 27/9/2010 at 10:47pm I have a henry water heater that doesn't want to start on gas can you give me pointers on how to fix this please thanks M Sewter.
