Jeffs comments are valid too and it sounds as if the captive nut (which your refering to) has become detached from the frame/bracket. Still think it needs a new one welded on, or fitted somehow.

I used a chisel to take it of my caravan,I used a stainless metric flange hexagon nut that fits the shape of the hole,put the hexagon nut inside the hole so that the flange side is going to press againt the alko frame.
