Sorry about the ghost reply - finger trouble again. However, every time I use the charger we refer to, all the led lights light upon switching on and remain on. Confusing?.
------------- If if it aren't totally broken its probably best left alone.
It's possible then that the lights are simply indicating the state of charge of the battery with all lights on indicating that the battery is fully charged.
Can you discharge the battery for a while and then power up the charger again to see what indications you get?
Thanks again for your interest. I now know that what you advise is spot on. I have now managed to get a copy of the relevant ABSAAR manual and after repetitive readings understand that it is a standard charger with an "electronic charge indicator" and definitely requires to be turned off by the mains switch upon reaching maximum charge. This is indicated to be close by the green led commencing to glow and progressively become bright at which stage the battery is fully charged. It does not have the facility of automatically shutting down to a trickle charge maintenance mode.
Accordingly I have now ordered a fully automatic charger with maintenance mode.
