Hi Andy, I have 3 pictures, the first two are of the rear edge on my particular caravan moulding, this is where I have used the 90 degree corner trim.

The third one is a bit more manky now with mud and stuff but on this one I used flat jointing trim stuck onto the bottom of the caravan wall, it covers the area where the lower awning skirt trim is missing, (under the end cap).

It is used there to give the same end result, a vertical edge where the water can't flow uphill so drops to the ground.

I hope this is of assistance mate.

Dave.

Hi Dave the first two pics are of the bumper moulding I take it. On my van it is well clear of the floor area . I thought the plastic angle is wedged between the floor and GRS back panel underneath van there’s a small lip to wedge it under.

Dave this is just a quick pic , is this how you installed it. Obviously I’ve just placed angle in for now and it hasn’t been sealed .

Hi Andy, the first two pictures are of the bottom of the rear panel moulding where it turns round and is fastned to the floor of my Series 7, (you can see the star head of the odd screw in the pic). You will also notice I cut the trim back a bit where the corner steady winder is.

There is a little bit of a raised edge along most of the bottom, it may be there for added strength I don't know but at my corners, both rear and side, there is none and that is where mine gets wet so that is the only areas where I added the trim. Unlike ythe picture you have shown, it seams to show that you already have a vertical straight edge, this doesn't need anything extra in my opinion. If rainwater is still getting through at this point and onto the floor I'd suggests it's getting behind that strip.

Dave.

Sorry Dave the first pic was an example of how I was going to slide angle into. The Vertical edge you see in that is the bottom moulding that goes side to side on my van which is for the bottom draught excluder awning rail .The actual lip for side panel is under that where angle is slid into.
Please see new pics this is of the actual rear panel as you see the lip of rear panel is tiny

Yes, that makes things a lot clearer, I can see it's just like mine so the angle trim will fix that. There is also the same area, (left hand side of the image) where the jointing strip goes to create a vertical edge.

So the trim is pushed in the gap between panel and wood and sealed from other side

After trawling through many posts re Bailey damp corners it seems the main cause is where both rear corner awning rails meet the floor, as per picture.
After conferring with Dave I’m going to put plastic angle on the straights both front and rear however how do I tackle the corners themselves

I put plenty of sealant on the inside of the trim so that it sealed the gap between the trim and the rear moulding, I then pushed it under as far as it would go. I butt jointed the corners and placed more sealant in the joint on the inside edge too, (pics 1 & 2).

On mine, there was a gap where there was no lip to slide it ubder, I therefore used the flat joining strip stuck onto bottom edge of the van side. Plenty more sealant to seal any gaps, (pic 3). It doesn't matter too much that it looks like so long as it does the job.

Now on your van I would imagine that it's not the same mine but this idea can be adapted, you just need the solution to fix your particular problem.

The basic principal is the same in every case, create a vertical drip drop edge to stop rainwater getting onto the bottom ply by whatever means works.

Good luck Andy,

Dave.

It's not obvious from the picture, is it a srtaight edge both sides to a 90 degree corner or curved? Can you easily gain better access with trim any removal?

Dave
