I’m a bit confused here, your earlier post said the kettle was taking power and your last post said there is no power at any of the sockets?
I suggest you start at the beginning
Check the socket in the house / garage etc where you plug in the ehu to see it has power.
If it does have power plug the ehu cable into it and check for power at the other end using a multimeter or other power tester.
If it does have power carry on the process, checking the inline fuse to the onboard charger
Make sure the rcd and mobs are both on, it’s a matter of elimination
Colin’s right that battery is probably finished
From the wall socket of which the extension lead connects to the van I connected a 3 pin plug to it to see if there was problems with the cable. When I switched on the kettle I had power directly from the house.
When I run the power cable through the EHU there is no power to any of the sockets or light when the master switch is turned on.
I have changed the 20 V inline fuse without any success there.
The MCBs are in the correct position to take power if there was to be any power to have.
After having the power turned on again overnight once the master swich in the van is turned on we have no power. I an about to disconnect the leisure battery to give it a charge overnight.
When you plug the hook up lead in go to the main control box and make sure the RCD switch is in the on (up) position and press the test button. If this doesn't work that isolates your problem. If the RCD is working it will change the switch to the down position. This should help isolate the problem.
If the RCD is working switch the MCB switches on (up) to get the power to the PSU and the other appliances.
Thank you Rob something finally twigged in my not so bright skull!
I had tried everything until I fully understood what the RCD switch is.
I had tripped the MCB's but not the RCD, to me it just looked like a lump of grey plastic.
I have now pressed the top button on the RCD, this tripped the right hand MCB and I now have power back int the van, although no lights as the battery is in the house getting a charge overnight.
Thank you for all your help guys. Sorry for being so foolish.
If I am reading that right, there is power to the house end of the EHU cable but no power in the van? That means to me that either the EHU cable is faulty or there is a fault within the consumer unit in the van. I would start by checking out the cable.
Have you tried pressing the test button in the consumer unit? If that trips the breaker, the lead must be ok.
Yes I did that recently and it now appears all is ok. The heater to the van started up after I reset the RCB. To me it looked just like a lump of grey plastic originally. I had tripped the blue switch myself but not used the grey button to do the same thing.
Thank you for all your help as I believe once the leisure battery is replaced everything should be ok, or at least I have to get a new leisure battery now.
