hi,all, can anyone give me some options on what to do,i have a zig cf2000 control panel in my caravan, yesterday evening the fuse housing  melted,so im needing to replace, local caravan store could only suggest installing 2 seperate units a zig cp400,and a seperate charger + 2 spur switches, total cost around £170 then i would need a sparky to install possibly another £100+.can anyone suggest any other options to replace or even where i can get a cf2000 panal, only thing is that it must relocate in same area as last which is above warddrobe as all the wiring is there

thanks tim

Having not seen the cf2000 I'm not really in a position to advise but would not the cf9 replace it size for size?

Price around £120, how about self fitting? Do you not trust yourself to change wire for wire sort of thing?

having looked at the cf9 it looks like a larger unit, which would mean relocating which i was trying to avoid as it means a new hole to make and also a hole to fill, also not sure if there is enough terminals in back,it needs to supply fridge,12v lighting, pump, also i presume it powers the carver water heater and ignition for gas fire, then theres the battery to charge, without seeing the instructions i wouldnt know if it will run the lot,if it can then i think it may be a better option than 2 seperate units

Hi Tim,

Replied to your other post first - the size is 11" wide x 3" high x 6" deep thats 27.5 x 7.5 x 15 in cm I think it's also available in the upright mode as well if that would be better for you

It has fridge control and 3 x 12v fuses for lights water pump and Aux

thanks for your help mudlark,i had a look at the back of a cf9 why does it say fridge in and out surly all them wires are + -  i did read somewere even numbers are + and odd are _   but hopefully it will be just a straight wire swap with maybe a bit of lead extension if i have to relocate, its hard to sort out when your caravan is 70 miles from home

The fridge runs from your car battery via the ignition not from the battery on your caravan hence the in and out.

You will find both positive and negative terminals on the zig unit as it is a 12v consumer unit all circuits terminate at it

+ means positive and usually are red or brown wires

- means negative and usually are black or blue wires

Mark each as you take them off, sometimes you get different colours of wire for different types of circuit (eg I'm using a grey wire as + for the fridge feed on my caravan to show that it's a different circuit from the caravan battery)

My van is not quite 70 miles from me but it might just as well be for planning and measuring

Can't you just repair the CF2000 yourself or if not I am sure ZIG offer this service at the fraction of the cost of a new unit.

It's not an easy job to replace the melted fuse holder, I know I've done a couple, biggest problem is getting hold of a new holder which Zig might be able to help with and while your on, you might ask them why it happened because it's not that uncommon?
