I have a spare Groenland fridge that is used on our main holiday for extra cold storage. It is no linger working efficiently. I think it just wants a regas. Anyone know of a company that will do this. Preferably in the Bedfordshire area
Thanks

Hi

Had a similar problem on my Electrolux 3 way when I bought the van. These fridges use an amonia based coolant mix which over time will 'split' and reduce cooling efficiancy. The cure is to turn the fridge upside down for half an hour or so to remix the coolant.

Give it a go!

John

Cheers guys. I have tried the upside down trick, but that was a while ago. I'll give it another go and see how it works.

Tried leaving it upside down for about an hour, then right way up again. Left to stand for 24 hours and still no go.
There is heat coming from the outside of the cooling system, but the inside of the unit does not get cold.

Low gas I expect. Back to the original question, anyone know where I can get this repaired. Got to be cheaper that £150 for a replacement

Thanks

This 'absorbent' type fridge works totally different to a domestic 'pumped' fridge, if it's leaked theres nothing you can do, it's scrap. However if you cannot smell it when it's switch on and heated, believe me.. it's not leaking!

Turning over works, but only as long as it takes for the mixture to trickle from top to bottom and back again, do this half a dozen time then switch it straight on, no need to wait. Still no go, then try again but shaking hell out of it while it's trickling, you should hear about 10 or more seconds of trickling. If that don't work then it could just be either electric or gas is overheating it which will stop it working correctly.

Sometimes though they just stop working and for the life of me I cannot understand why!?
