The fridge is not working from the secondary socket when towing, I have changed the socket for a new one but there is still no power (I understand that it will only show a live when the engine is running), all the other functions are working from this source (reversing lights etc).

The car is a 1995 Landrover Discovery it is possible that the feed (Red ) has an independent fuse.

Hello tony59. Yes there should be a fuse on the car for the red wire.From about 1999 all caravans had the 12s system modified: perhaps your car is wired to the old standard. The easiest way to modify the car is to ensure that pin 7(centre pin) on the 12s socket is actually connected(black wire) and earthed to the car body. This is because newer vans require a dedicated earth for the fridge.If you do this mod to the car, you can tow both "old" and "new" vans. This is how I wire my towcars. As a matter of interest: Landrover have three different 12s wiring kits.
