Hi, i seem to have a very tempremental water pump, which I use with my fc. We went on holiday and it wouldn't work to start with but afer some swinging it around! it worked. Now I'm home it won't work again. Can anyone offer any advise please. It's foot operated and there is power as you can hear something, but no water is being fed through?
Thanks, Dai

If its the one above a common fault is in the plug where the spade terminals push on
The wires are tinned (soldered) before crimping and the solder oxidises and impairs current flow
Removing the terminals and soldering direct cures the problem

Hi John, Yes it is the one you picture. 'Soldering direct' sound complicated for a complete novice? What does this ential?
Thanks, Dai

You could try squeezing the crimp on spades or just cutting them off and crimping new ones on to the bare copper wires if soldering is not an option
Our friends had a problem with their Whale pump on the Bordeaux and all manner of wedges were tried to push home the plug before we remembered about the terminals .
It usually went off in the middle of a shower

Thanks John, Just wondering if this is the problem, as there seems to be power getting through to the pump, as you can hear it. It's just no water is coming through?
cheers, Dai

It sounds as though it may be either a duff pump or a blockage in the pipe
You could rule out a duff pump by putting it in a bucket of water and running cable from a 12V source to the pump terminals
You could either run twin cable from the car battery or use a jump start power pack
It could possibly be a blocked/stuck non return valve as well
Good luck
It would be worth trying another Whale pump if you were on site and could borrow one
Where are you in UK?
Strangely enough a friend has just paid me for a replacement pump today
