Hi all,

It's been a while since I last posted in here but thought i'd pick your brains on this one. We now have season pitch and with a lot of help from other caravanners we put our awning up this year. But as we are getting ever closer to next month when the site closes down we thought we'd take the awning down this weekend, whilst it is still drying weather. It's in need of a good wash so i will do that when we get it home.

Any tips on which order to dismantle it before I start the task. We have bought coloured tape to identify the pole positions for next year.

Cheers and look forward to hearing from you all.

Unzip any loose panels

Pull out all pegs

Fold the front legs towards the caravan and remove the rafter poles/veranda poles

Remove front legs and roof cross bars

Slide awning out of channel and fold to the size of the awning bag

Try to keep to the size of the windows and roll the clear plastic rather than folding it

Hope that helps

Last time on a gravel pitch I left the ground sheet till last and folded up on it

Clear the insides of the awning out, remove the curtains, remove the pegs, zip out the panels, start at one end and remove the poles, remove the pole that goes from that end to the centre, remove the poles on the other end, remove the pole that goes from that end to the centre, tilt the centre leg towards the middle of the awning floor space ( so that it tends to fall outwards rather than inwards ), remove the centre roof pole, remove the centre leg, pull the awning through the rail. Now fold all the panels up and fold the awning up to a width that will fit the lebgth of your bag, split the panels into two piles, put them on the awning and then roll the awning up, put in bag. Remove the draft skirt and fold and roll it to fit in bag, put curtains in polythene bag and put in awning bag.

Bill and John,

Thanks gents. I just wanted to have a format to work to, rather than go at it like a bull in a china shop. Your words of advice are much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Tony.

keep the zip ends away from the windows when folding as these can cut into the window in storage.
