Hi michael and thanks for the advice but could you confirm for me that what i think is correct, if i go inside van and take tape up to inside part of the opening and measure the inside of it( the hole ) i just measured it and it is 10 inch  by 10 inch or 260x 260mm the smallest i have seen is 280x280,am i measuring correct or have i done it wrong again lol.

Thanks i am finding it more difficult as i broke my wrist on tuesday night.

you might have to buy the complete thing, however just unscrew the handles and fit it from there, no need to remove interior part unless the sealant is bad on the outside then you might aswell kill 2 birds with one stone

Most large caravan shops stock them, those sort have been
standard on caravans since the 80s & are still fitted to
new 'vans. Unwise to buy secondhand as old ones get
brittle & break. Take your old one to a shop & match it
up, you can buy just the hatch & it is complete with
handles & spring mechanism. To remove old one, remove the
4 tiny screws where they hinge but you will have to get up
to roof to remove/refit from top. Put new one on top of
roof hole & then refit screws from inside caravan, its
that easy.

As Michael says you have to measure the actual hole for the skylight and that means taking off the fittings from inside the van then measure the hole..
