Did an emergency stop and felt the caravan brakes kick in.......but there was an amighty bang during this process. Can replicate with just slamming the brakes on. It does lock the wheels and pushes the car slightly.......................is this natural

I would say your brake system needs adjusting .

Could be that being as you stopped so quickly the damper didn't have chance to work and it ran to the end causing the bang?

sounds like a bit of slack in the `van brakes, which you wouldnt notice normally driving

sounds to me like you need a new damper.does it bang on take off too?i had this on the old van and a new damper cured it.push the hitch in,it should be hard to push in by hand and comes out slowly by itself.if its easy to push in the damper is us.

Sounds like the overrun damper, had a problem with mine, it seized, the effect was to push the car (Banging noise)every time I stopped and the caravan brakes came off, See Here to see what I did,
