I have recently had the above fitted to my car and caravan. i have used it 4 times and have noticed that the ball on my tow bar has now become pitted and there are a few notches out of the ball. Does anybody know what has caused this and also how can i stop it from going worse. Will this effect the towing of the car .

They probably get the bumps and notches from the way they are stored ( ie on the shop shelf ) . You can lightly dress ( smooth ) the marks with wet and dry paper .
Make sure you clean the ball and inside the hitch with a dry rag ( or one with meths on it ) before every use .
