i have a 110ah leisure battery in my shed that i cant get to take a charge. put a volt meter on it last night an it says round about 8volts. connect up charger switch on an after about 20 to 30 seconds charger says battery is full. put on the volt meter again and you can watch the volts dropping.
my guess is that its knacke### but dont really want to throw it out till i know for sure.
its dropped a cell or two and only holding a top charge,so its not any good now and you sould get a new one
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
You got another battery handy? link the two with jump leads and charge them together, sometimes kicks a dead flat battery into life but won't revive a duff battery
ken .after years of working in quarries and seeing what happens when you connect two batteries together with jump leads i would be very wary of doing this......
dead battery connected to other one with leads ? charger connected to 'other one ' is that correct ?
will try that tomorrow between fitting track rod ends to the old shogie for her mot...
Perfectly safe if you connect to the right terminals
Worked in the motor trade and done this many times, revived quite a few but others didn't respond to it.
Yeah connect em pos to pos, neg to neg, put the charger on the good battery and leave it on charge even if it is showing that it's full, give it a few hour then test the voltage, if it's showing signs of being charged then try it on it's own.
Don't use a battery thats fitted on a vehicle though, if it is disconnect both terminals from the car
no need to spend any cash at moment van has a good 85ah one fitted, it was just one i had in shed that i thought might be handy for a spare... (typical scotsman though, never throw anything away even though i know its had it )
