Could anyone please tell me if its OK to use expanding foam to fill the gaps between polystyrene sheets or does it contain solvent. I have replaced the window frame on the O/S front of my caravan and cut out about 4 inches of the polystyrene sheet and bonded new pieces in place, there are a few gaps where old meets new. Also on taking the old board off some of the polystyrene came away leaving holes all over the place on the exsisting sheets. What is the best way of filling these to level it off as when the new panels are bonded on dont want any area's missed.
you can get the solvent free stuff but i'd be careful with it as it can push other panels out if you put to much in i'd just cut the styrene into a square & patch it up a lot safer but more time consuming
if you want an expanding adhesive to fill i would use gorilla glue as it only expands a small amount.wont affect polystyrene i used it on my daughters coachman to re fix the panels.just spray a mist of water to one surface apply glue when set you can trim.
